Did you know that in the ancient world, Salt was used as payment and as salary. That raises my opinion of salt. I just thought it was something that sat on the dinner table ready to right whatever wrongs I had made in my cooking.
On Sunday, our scripture text talked about us being salty. The first thing I thought about was automatically is that if salt had great value in the ancient world and Jesus uses that as an image of what we should be, that means we are valuable to God. I know that to be a true face. I know that God created us in God’s image and has called us beloved.
I hope as you watch this sermon, you hear that message that you are valuable and loved by God and are called to share the message of God’s love with the world. Heaven and we know that the world needs to know they are valued and loved.
