On Sunday, we ended in the same chapter in the Gospel of Mark where we began almost a year ago. Because of that full circle, on Sunday we took the opportunity to look at the overall message of Mark. Mark’s purpose of the Gospel is to show hope even in the midst of despair and desolation.
That sounds like a good Gospel to have been journeying through this past year. Into the midst of our fear, our concern, and our sadness, Jesus breaks in with the message of hope. Jesus reminds us that in the midst of the unknown and uncertainty, God stands.
God is doing a new thing. God broke through this past Sunday and always breaks through with the message of hope and peace no matter where we are. No matter what we are facing, God is there and brings hope, love and peace.
May you feel the gift of God’s hope this week and always. If you have a prayer request or a question, please reach out to me at pastor@stmatthews-elca.org.
