In a world where individualism is celebrated, choices are abundant, divisions seems to be at an all time high, can there be Unity in Diversity? Can we give each person space to be their true self, respect their opinion even if it is different than ours, and celebrate their gift of individuality while still working together to care for our neighbor?
This week our sermon asks that question and reminds us that it is possible if we start with remembering that we are made one in Christ. It is possible if we remember that we are all created in God’s image and it is good. It is possible that we are all offered salvation through Christ’s death and resurrection.
If we start with what unifies us—Christ, I believe we have the freedom to celebrate and give thanks for the diversity and still work with one another to care for our neighbor. If you have any questions about St. Matthew’s or this sermon, please email me at pastor@stmatthews-elca.org.
Blessings on your life.
