The songwriter’s lyrics seem rather simplistic; “The only thing the world needs more of is love.” I am wondering in the world in which we live in today is the songwriter who asked, “What does love have to do with it?” more attuned to the real world.
However, I am reminded of the words of Dr. King Jr., “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” Paul, in our Scripture reading on Sunday, reminded us what kind of love has God’s power to drive out hate. It is love that is patient, kind, selfless and the list goes on.
That kind of love can be a powerful source for healing, for bridge building, and for unity.
My prayer is that you experience that kind of love and share that kind of love with others because indeed the world does need love and so do we.
